New Build Eco House, Hampshire
The clients for this project have a particular concern for sustainability and so wanted to draw on INSPIRATION’s expertise in this area.
Now nearing completion this true zero carbon house has been designed in a ‘soft contemporary’ style, taking advantage of passive as well as technological devices.
This has been an opportunity to utilise a highly sustainable building material known as ‘Hemcrete’. All wall and roof structures can be built from this material which actually has a negative carbon footprint. More carbon is absorbed from the atmosphere as the hemp grows than is released in the building’s construction.
The extremely high insulation and air tightness values of Hemcrete also allow heating costs to be negligible as the heat generated by human occupancy is sufficient.
